OVERVIEW

The RBPL project was awarded to IndiGrid in November 2024 by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN) for the Design, Supply, Installation, Testing, Commissioning, Operation and Maintenance of a 250 MW / 500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System in Rajasthan.

The project was awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process and is being developed on a Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) basis. The Battery Energy Storage Service Agreement (BESSA) was signed in December 2024 for a 12-year contract period starting from the commercial operation date.

Strategically located in a high renewable energy generation zone, the RBPL project will provide critical peak power support and enhance grid flexibility in Rajasthan. It forms part of India’s broader push towards clean energy integration under the National Framework for Energy Storage. Developed in partnership with AmpereHour Energy, the project will deploy advanced storage technology to deliver high-performance, reliable energy services to the grid.
