OVERVIEW
KBPL project was awarded to IndiGrid in October 2023 by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) to Design, Supply, Testing, Installation, Commissioning, Operation and Maintenance of 20 MW/40 MWh Battery Energy Storage System in Delhi.
KBPL was envisaged on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis for a period of 12 years and was bid out through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism. The Battery Energy Storage Service Agreement (BESSA) was signed in December 2023 for a period of 12 years from the date of commissioning.
Co-located with a legacy substation in a densely populated area of South Delhi, the project execution team overcame a multitude of challenges and commissioned the project in record time by March 31, 2025. KBPL has been developed in collaboration with AmpereHour Energy and received concessional funding from Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP).
