OVERVIEW
Koppal Narendra Transmission Limited (KNTL) is a Build-Own-Operate-Maintain (BOOM) Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) located in Karnataka. Operational since October 2023, KNTL comprises approximately 276 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and ~2,500 MVA of transformation capacity.
The asset was jointly owned by ReNew Transmission Ventures Private Limited (RTVPL) (51%) and KNI India (49%), a joint venture between Norfund and KLP.
IndiGrid acquired KNTL in June 2025. With its location in a region witnessing rapid grid expansion, KNTL offers meaningful long-term augmentation potential for IndiGrid.
KNTL in the Grid
Koppal Narendra Transmission Ltd (KNTL) is a key ISTS project enabling evacuation of power from RE sources in Koppal Wind Energy Zone. It strengthens grid reliability, reduces curtailment, and supports India’s 2030 target of 500 GW non-fossil capacity by integrating solar and wind power into demand centers.
Details of KNTL’s project elements are as follows:
